The Land Still Watches
A PROJECT IN PRESENCE AND PLACE — Santa Fe, New Mexico
My photographic work has long centered on presence, memory, and the spaces people and histories leave behind. This project extends those concerns beyond the human figure and into the living landscape itself.
Unable to remain physically on the property, I chose to continue working within its boundaries through small solar-powered cameras placed throughout the land. These cameras document wildlife as it moves freely through the space — unposed, uninterrupted, and unaware of being observed.
The project grew from a moment of conflict, but evolved into an act of stewardship. By offering water, shelter, and protection, the land becomes not only a subject, but a collaborator.
As with all of my work, authorship does not come from control, but from intention — from deciding where to look, what to value, and what deserves to remain visible.
